Trouble Sleeping?

30% of the U.S. population suffers from insomnia and 10% from Chronic insomnia, making it the most common sleep disorder.

If so, you’re not alone. The facts about sleep issues affecting millions of people around the globe today are staggering. Here are just a few to think about;

  • 35% of people don’t get enough sleep (7 hours per day) according to the CDC

  • 37% of people between 20-39 years of age reported short sleep duration

  • 30% of the U.S. population suffers from insomnia and 10% from Chronic insomnia, making it the most common sleep disorders. Here are just a few to think about;

  • Since 1985 the percentage of adults getting less than 6 hours of sleep each night has increased by 31%

  • Nearly 9 Million Americans take sleeping pills

  • Ages 20 and over 4% have used prescription sleep aids in the past month

  • 35% of those who regularly use sleeping pills are more likely to be diagnosed with cancer

And these are just a few, so yes, a great many of us are tired and need more sleep. If you’re like me though, I hate taking anything that leaves me feeling groggy and fuzzy minded the next day. I don’t like taking prescription meds, the side effects alone are enough to keep me up at night. Seriously, have you heard some of those commercials?

I look for all-natural alternatives. CBD infused with terpenes is the alternative that I have found to work the best; I get the health benefits of the CBD and a good night’s sleep from the added benefit of the Terpenes.

What is a terpene?

CBD Terpenes are the natural compounds found in hemp plants that are responsible for the plant's color, smell, and flavor, as well as a myriad of other benefits that are being discovered. Perhaps you thought that cannabinoids were the compounds in the cannabis plant that produced the healing effects? While that’s true it’s been discovered that terpenes can play a big role in that as well. In fact, cannabinoids and terpenes work together in what’s called the entourage effect.

Some of the more common terpenes that are used in CBD oils to promote sleep are;

Myrcene: Known for its earthy smell, Myrcene-rich strains are thought to have a relaxing effect, Myrcene has also been shown to be useful as an anti-inflammatory, a sedative, and a muscle relaxer.

Linalool: This common terpene has a smell reminiscent of spring flowers and produces a strong sedative effect and is widely known for its stress-relieving, anti-inflammatory, and anti-depressant effects. It’s also a useful treatment of both anxiety and psychosis. Some studies also suggest that linalool can boost the immune system and significantly reduce lung inflammation.

Limonene: While it’s one of the most common terpenes, It’s also one of the most useful, from reducing heartburn and inflammation to lowering stress and anxiety levels it also has anti-fungal and antibacterial properties.

So, the next time you having trouble sleeping, consider using an all-natural terpene infused CBD oil instead of an over the counter or prescription medication. They have more bad effects on your body than good ones, don’t become a statistic!

Until next time…. Good night Sleep tight!
